Best autonomous vehicle systems in the country

There are autonomous cars in the country today, but none are yet completely autonomous. Many car makers are exploring the idea, and currently, there are seven systems from seven manufacturers, which are the best in this technology. They’re listed below:

Audi’s Traffic Jam Pilot
This feature will be out next year in the Audi A8 sedan. The traffic jam pilot is not completely independent, but it does take over in heavy traffic. It functions below 60 kmph, steers, accelerates, halts the car, and starts up again so you do not need to keep moving your foot on and off the brakes. It also does minor adjustments at the wheel while you are stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

BMW’s Traffic Jam Assistant
This system is also not completely autonomous, but it does help avoid the monotony of bumper-to-bumper traffic and stop-and-go traffic. When the vehicle is at low speeds, this system takes over the steering, accelerating, and braking, which means you can avoid stop and go driving. It wants you to keep your hands on the wheel.

Cadillac’s Super Cruise
This system is the world’s first hands-free driving system. This system does not require a driver. If you are driving on the mapped route, you can let the system drive for hours. They have 130,000 miles mapped just in the country and Canada.

ProPILOT by Nissan/Infiniti
The Nissan ProPILOT is available in the new Nissan Leaf and Infiniti Q50. It accelerates and brakes for you depending on the speed you set and the action of the vehicle ahead of you. Unlike other cars, it also steers for you, but you need to keep your hands on the wheel. If you remove your hands from the wheel, a warning alarm sounds to remind you to keep your hands back. The system also keeps you in the center of the lane. In the demo, the feature has helped a car move from point A to point B without human interference.

Drive Pilot by Mercedes-Benz
This new system allows for automated driving, lane changing at any speed, weather, and road conditions. However, you cannot remove your hands from the wheel and let the car do it all, as regulations do not allow it. You can keep your hands off the wheel for longer than other cars. Some say up to 45 seconds.

Tesla’s Autopilot
This is the closest the cars have come to autonomous technology besides Cadillac’s Super Cruise. When it was initially introduced, the drivers could let go of the wheel for long periods, but government regulation has cut short this duration. The driver has to touch the wheel every minute or two, so that he/she does not fall asleep. When your hands are off the auto pilot takes control, changes lanes, speeds up, and negotiates curves and corners, even when the roads are not reliable.

Pilot Assist by Volvo
This car works like Tesla’s autopilot and Mercedes Benz’s drive pilot. It has autonomous driving, but the car requires input from the driver every now and then. The name pilot assist says it all; it is every driver’s aide and is available in Volvo S90 sedan, V90 station wagon, and XC60 crossover. It goes around bends and can speed up and slow down depending on the action of the vehicle in front.
